(Honours) degree and in the University College of Science and Technology, Calcutta, for his M.Sc. degree in Chemistry before joining Indian civil service in 1979. He studied Law in Delhi University and earned his LL.B. degree from the University in 1992. Between 1995 and 2000 he pursued graduate studies in economics in Boston University and earned his MA in Economics and Ph.D. in Economic Geography. He taught at Boston University’s School of Management from 2002 through 2003 before returning to Indian Revenue Service.  In 2015 he retired from civil service and joined as Chair Professor, Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University, Japan. He is now a full time Professor in charge of International Academic Research Institute at Kyoto University of Advanced Science, Japan. He is the Founder Vice-President of Asian Institute of Public Policy and Development Studies, Kolkata. 担当科目 実践プロジェクトⅠ、戦略的マネジメントＢ（ヒンドゥー教の精神性とインドの文化）、MBAコース セレクト・トピックスII、サプライチェーン・マネジメント、研究指導 Career Field ExperienceⅠ Strategic Management B（Hindu Spirituality and Indian Culture） MBA Courses on Selected TopicsⅡ Supply chain management Research Guidance 研究内容 学者として、シュリ・レイは、人間社会における包括的発展と価値を引き出す活動の成長ダイナミクスに焦点を当てた研究を行った。2019年に京都大学の最優秀教授賞を受賞し、それ以前には、1995年から1997年にかけて、ワシントンDCの世界銀行からフェローシップを受けていた。現在の研究では、21世紀に出現した人類の産業革命後の知識社会において、科学的精神性を含む文化的・制度的要因が、どのように包括的発展と価値創造活動の成長ダイナミクスを促進するのか、そのメカニズムを探求しています。 Shri Ray&＃39;s research has focussed on inclusive development and growth dynamics of value generating activities in human societies. He received Kyoto University’s Best Professor Award in 2019. Our wholesome character and personality is reflected in our conducts, attitudes, motivations, prefernces and choices , capabilities and functionings in diverse social action ecosystems. Liberal arts education helps us build our value laden wholeosme character and rounded personality. It does so as it focuses not only  on developing our technical and scientific skills but also on developing our broader human resources  including ethical and moral values for living a meaningful life among others in the society.
